There is no single rule. The right cycle depends on the building, where it is and how it is used. These are the main factors we look at when we set up a cleaning programme.
What affects how often
- Location. Busy roads, rail lines, construction nearby and the river all dirty glass faster.
- Building type. Prestige offices, hotels and retail usually want a more frequent cycle than residential blocks.
- Glass and finishes. Coated or self-cleaning glass, cladding and frames each have their own needs.
- Birds and trees. Roosting birds and overhanging trees mean more frequent visits on the worst elevations.
- Lease or warranty terms. Some leases and facade warranties set a minimum cleaning frequency.
A common starting point
Many commercial buildings clean the outside a few times a year, with ground-floor and entrance glazing done more often. Residential blocks are often cleaned less frequently. We will suggest a cycle for your building and adjust it once we see how it weathers.
Cleaning is also an inspection
When technicians are on the ropes, they see every pane, frame and joint up close. We report cracked glass, failed sealant, blocked gutters and loose fixings as we find them, so small problems are fixed before they become leaks.
